Keane - My Best Is Yet To Come
Ed Colenutt, November 10th 2008
After opening his league scoring account for the Reds Robbie Keane today
praised his Liverpool team-mates for helping him get off the mark whilst insisting his best was still to come.
The Irish striker struck his first domestic goal for the Reds 34 minutes into their 3-0 win over West
Brom on Saturday after waiting 12 games to open his account, but took just 9 minutes to double his league tally.
Whilst obviously delighted with his brace Keane was quick to acknowledge
Steven Gerrard and Fabio Aurelio
for their parts in creating the goals, and believes that with the quality of players supplying him he
will only get better in a red shirt.
"Like any player, it takes time to get to know the players around you and how they play," said Keane.
"Even though I’ve played against them so many times and watched them many more it’s still different when you
play with them."
"It’s probably taken a little bit longer than I would have liked but with every passing game I feel more and more
confident and I think you’ll see the best of Robbie Keane now."
"I’m fortunate to be playing with people who can pick passes, the likes of Stevie Gerrard, Xabi Alonso and Javier
Mascherano."
"Ever since I came to the club it’s been fantastic and the passing is fantastic and that happened again against
West Brom."
"They were two great balls from Stevie and Fabio and I’m just glad to have got on the end of them."
