Finnan's Liverpool Future Uncertain
By Ed Colenutt
Steve Finnan has admitted he is uncertain over what the future holds for him at Liverpool.
The Republic of Ireland defender has made over 200 appearances for the reds, but has failed to make the 18 man squad for either
of Liverpool’s opening two competitive fixtures of the season, and was also touted as a possible makeweight in any deal to bring
Gareth Barry to Anfield .
Asked on his future, Finnan said: "I haven't got a clue to be honest with you. I haven't played many games recently so I honestly can't say."
"There is a big squad there and everyone is fighting for their place and I just have to train well and take the chance if I get it."
"I haven't played, but I will just wait and see and when the transfer window closes - we will know then."
"I will wait and see if I can get into the team. If not then obviously I want to play, so we will just have to take it from there."
The club have strengthened the right back position during the summer with the capture of Philipp Degen,
and also have Alvaro Arbeloa and the up & coming Stephen Darby for the position, but an early injury to
Degen may well have seen Finnan receive a stay of execution.
